For this year's Black History Month, we're celebrating black talent on the big screen by screening three entertaining, educating, and exhilarating films.
Babylon
This film centres around Brindsley Forde's character 'Blue' who fronts a reggae sound system based in South West London.
This influential film captures the trials and tribulations of young black youths in troubled London during the early eighties. Many describe this film as 'a cult classic which deserves more attention'.
Now over 20 years on, you can see this powerful film on our screens...
Belle
The illegitimate, mixed-race daughter of a British admiral plays an important role in the campaign to abolish slavery in eighteenth century England. It is a historical romance as well as a film about social justice.
"Visually stunning, with subtle and flawless performances by an extraordinary cast, the film is all the more powerful when one realises that it is based on a true story."
The Stuart Hall Project
Stuart Hall is one of the most influential and esteemed cultural theorists of a generation.
'The Stuart Hall Project' takes the viewer on a roller coaster ride through the upheavals, struggles and turning points that made the 20th century the century of campaigning, and of global political and cultural change.
